Do you shop at the local dog biscuit bakery? Does your pet receive regular massages in between trips to the groomer? Is doggie daycare a significant part of your monthly budget? If so, you’ll fit right in with this crowd.
My dog is perhaps slightly spoiled, but I know there are plenty of folks who are even more obsessed with their pets than I. And now there is a great new group for all of us dog lovers out there: 6 Degrees of Dog is a Denver organization that promotes doggy-friendly events and social gatherings. You can sign up Fido and Fluffy online — and fill in a few questions about what type of pooch your four-legged pal might want to connect with — and you’ll get invites to suitable ideas. The hope is that Denver area doggies (and their bipedal doggie devotees) can meet for friendships, romance, dog walk buddies, and dog park adventures. Plus, regularly-scheduled mixers will fill in the social calendar for pups and people alike.
This Saturday, it’s Wines & Wags, a doggie-friendly wine tasting at the Livable Home at 1521 15th St. at 7 p.m. In addition to wine tastings, they’ll have people food, doggie treats, pet portraits, and pup-sitting services by Camp Bow Wow. Part of the $25 ticket price will benefit the Good Samaritan Pet Center, so even if you don’t have a dog of your own, you can help a furry friend in need. Fido says he’s interested? I’ll be bringing my pal Riley along, so look me up, and maybe we can arrange a puppy play date.
