At least three more benefit events for the tsunami survivors in Asia and Indonesia are coming up this week. So whip out the wallet, and do what you can. You’ll have fun, and feel good about yourself while you’re at it. Wednesday, January 12, 6 p.m.: Hit the Walnut Foundry Events Center for FundNight, a benefit organized by Denver area event planners and promoters. $25 tix include an open beer and wine bar, plus appetizers, door prizes, and a live six-piece band for dancing and entertainment. They’ll also have a martini bar available for additional $3 suggested donations. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross. Thursday, January 13, 9 p.m.: Rise Nightclub is joining the relief efforts with their Tsunami Relief Party, where your $10 cover will also be donated to the American Red Cross. (A $15 donation will score you a free cocktail, and a $50 donation will earn you a bottle of champagne.) Rise resident DJ Geoff will spin a mix of house, hip-hop, and Top 40, and celebrity bartenders will chat up the guests while ordering up drinks. Kirk Montgomery and Ryan Chiaverini from 9 News will be on hand, along with Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse players Jon Torpey and Jeff Sonke, plus more to be announced. Friday, January 14, 6:30 p.m.: Head over to the High Street Speakeasy (if you can find it at 3862 Hight St. – the “speakeasy” moniker is appropriate) for a night of funk, soul, disco, and 80’s classics with DJ Mad Wax. 50% of bar proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross (they are a popular organization this week). City Wine is donating wine, Watercourse Foods will donate desserts, and the Colfax Center Deli will provide munchies, so bring your friends, your appetite, and your thirsty Friday night self to the party.
