Only in Boulder.
The People’s Republic just grows ’em different.
Need proof? Check out the amphibious contraptions that will attempt to set sail across the Boulder reservoir tomorrow during the KBCO Kinetics challenge. These people are just a little bit nuts. They take a bicycle, add a kayak, decorate it with feathers, sculptures, and finger paint, dress up in costume with ten of their best buddies, and race over land and sea. (Okay, the rez is more of an overgrown puddle, but you get my drift.) This year’s event has the largest turnout in many years, with 50 teams on board.
There’s also a 5K race, pancake breakfast for BCAP, and live music by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Ozomatli.
And this year the weather might even cooperate (they’re saying 70’s). A beer on the beach with a whole lotta crazy Boulderites? Sounds like summertime to me.
