Frank Schultz is really excited about the opening of his newest restaurant/bar location in Lowry. And from the sound of it, he has every right to be excited. In addition to the Tavern Uptown and the Tavern Downtown (formerly the Soiled Dove), his expanding string of locations now includes the Tavern Lowry and the Soiled Dove Underground, located in the Lowry Town Center.
Schultz told me tonight that he’s still in the “honeymoon phase” with the downtown location, which opened about six weeks ago. But he’s already moving on emotionally to the newest space, which includes both the Tavern upstairs, with a dining room, bar, and outdoor patio (it sounds great — waterfall, creek, koi pond, lots of greenery), plus the downstairs music venue. Schultz said he made all the little changes to the new Soiled Dove Underground based on nine years of running the old Soiled Dove, including better sight lines to the stage, a better flow between the concert venue and the bar area, great acoustics and even a recording studio to capture live shows.
Want to check it out for yourself? The opening parties start this week with a comedy show featuring Sinbad on Thursday night, a fundraiser for the Lowry Foundation featuring Hazel Miller on Friday night, an open house Saturday from 11 a.m to 2 p.m., and a private VIP bash on Saturday evening. The entire place officially opens for business as usual next Monday.
