Here’s an odd quandary for you. Anybody out there know how to judge a sumo contest?
I’ve signed on (along with about a dozen other local media types and former athletes) to judge the sumo wrestling at the Sushi, Sake, and Sumo charity event this Friday night at Invesco at Mile High. The event includes four amateur sumo wrestlers going at it in official bouts, but you, I, or anyone brave enough can don a sumo suit and give it a try firsthand. I’m guessing that I’m on board to judge the pseudo-sumo rounds, but I’m game for whatever, since they’ll be feeding us sushi and sake all night long, and local groovesters Something Underground will be performing live.
The entire event is a fundraiser for Generations Cancer Foundation, and 100 percent of the ticket sales will be donated toward cancer research.
