Here’s a fundraiser for you DIY types out there. But I’m not talking about do-it-yourself indie rockers; this one is all about getting your hands a little dirty, and helping others clean up.
The Shaken, Not Stirred Martini Party next Saturday, Feburay 5th will let guests be the master of their own destiny, at least in terms of cocktails. Show up at the Walnut Foundry between 6:30 and 10 p.m. next weekend, and you’ll encounter several martini-making stations, with ingredients for at least 12 specific combinations. (Of course, feel free to go crazy DIY by mixing up your own new concoction.)
Only thing missing? You guessed it — the bartenders. For this event, you are flying solo with your shaker.
Do a little research beforhand, and you can show off your talents by whipping together a Ginger Cosmo, or take the advice of Miss Cocktail and kick the cosmo habit by trading the tired trend for gin, amaretto, or bourbon drinks.
And don’t worry that you’ll be asked to stick around and pick up after the party. The cleanup portion of the evening is directed at the continuing efforts to clean up after the tsunami disaster, so please pitch in a bottle of shampoo, bar of soap, towel, toothbrush or toothpaste for distribution to the survivors.
This event benefits Boys Hope Girls Hope of Colorado; Tickets are $40 advance, or $45 at the door.
