Joe Sakic could use a few extra hands on Christmas day this year. He’s the primary supporter of the Denver ChopHouse’s “Miracle on 19th Street,” a holiday feast at the ChopHouse restaurant that will serve over 5,000 homeless and displaced individuals this Christmas. We’re talking turkey, ham, those amazing ChopHouse white cheddar mashed potatoes, pie and all the fixings. Volunteers also assembly gift bags with warm clothes, toiletries, shoes, coats, and toys for both adults and children. The event started ten years ago and has drawn support from many local non-profits and generous volunteers, and they can always use extra help, particularly on Christmas eve and Christmas day when many of us fortunate ones will be cozied up with our own agendas. Want to pitch in this year? You can help out through finacial donations, volunteering on the day of the event (or beforehand, stuffing gift bags), or by contributing items on the “wish list,” from toys to toothpaste, or even by signing on to entertain the diners during the meal.
