I took a scenic drive up to Red Rocks last night.
That wasn’t the point of my trip, but that’s what it turned into. We had intended to meet up with a group of friends for the Film on the Rocks showing of Monty Python & The Holy Grail. Seems that lots of other people had the same idea. Since we waited to buy tickets on site at the box office, we totally missed out. Well, barely missed out is more like it. We literally missed the last tickets sold by ONE person in line. Which, as you might guess, kinda sucked. For us, and for the very long line of similarly disappointed carloads of would-be Python fans that followed us out of the park.
However. The series continues, and in two weeks another great favorite film of mine is showing. I’ll be rounding up the girlfriends (it’s sort of a chick flick, but not necessarily) for The Princess Bride on August 2. Local bands Zebra Junction and The Trampolines will entertain the early crowd, and I will be certain to get there early next time. In fact I’ll make sure we buy tickets in advance (either at King Soopers or online, FYI).
Not that I don’t love cruising through Red Rocks park on a summer evening just for the sheer enjoyment of it, but I’ll be sure to do it up right next time.
See you at the movies.
