Matthew Moon has been a player in the Denver music scene since 1990, but now it seems he’s ready to move on to bigger markets.
After his solo acoustic set last week at Zengo during 5280‘s Diningin Denver party, I spent a few minutes catching up with Moon. I had expected to hear about a new album in the works, or maybe plans to perform at a big New Year’s bash. But instead he casually gave me the head’s up that he’s actually planning to leave town — and rather quietly at that — after the holidays. Come January, he’s heading to Los Angeles to try his luck there. Apparently he’s been spending quite a bit of time in New York, but he’s right in thinking that his brand of upbeat acoustic rock might fare better on the West Coast. In Moon’s mind, that means he’s off to L.A.
Until then, fans can catch him performing in Denver for two solo shows at the Sports Column in Lodo on December 10 and 17. At the moment, he’s not planning any sort of send-off show. Let’s see if we can talk him into a proper goodbye concert, shall we?
