Mezcal officially celebrated its first anniversary last night, but the party continues this weekend. Saturday night at 9 p.m., the kitschy-cool Colfax Avenue restaurant will be serving up complimentary Corzo margs, Cocojitos, hors d’oeuvres, and birthday cake.
And thought I’m never one to turn my nose up at a freebie, I recommend substituting the margarita for the Sangre de Santos house sangria ($8). The tangy combination of red wine and citrus fruit is served with a float of smoky Maya mescal on top, and is a perfect compliment to Mezcal’s traditional Mexican menu.
