What to wear… what to wear… hmm.
Tonight is the opening night of the Denver International Film Festival, showcasing 175 films over the next 10 days, and I’ll be heading down to check out the action. Tonight’s film, The Word’s Fastest Indian, opens the event in red-carpet style at the new Ellie Caulkins Opera House. In the film, Anthony Hopkins stars as 72 year old New Zealander Burt Munro, who set a land speed record of 201 miles per hour on his ancient Indian motorcycle back in 1971. Director Roger Donaldson and producer John Kelly will make the screening this evening, along with Denver’s fab film buffs, including Mayor Hickenlooper, Denver Film Society artistic director Ron Henderson, and the Colorado chapter of the Indian Riders Group – fully decked out with their vintage Indian motorcycles. After the opening night film at the DCPA, most of the crowd – those of us who signed on for the opening night after party — will hop the shuttles up to Mile High Station for cocktails, music, and a dessert buffet.
I’ll surely have the juicy details for you tomorrow, but I do have one problem to solve before 6 p.m. tonight. How the hell am I supposed to look red carpet worthy with a huge fat black air cast on my left leg? Anybody got a spangled house dress laying around?
