So you’re not a commercial shopper, or maybe you have a cooler-than-thou person on your gift list. What to do? Surely you’ll want to avoid the Gap (even though the SJP ads are really kind of stylish) — for that matter, and any basic mall store won’t bit the bill.
You need to get out and support Denver’s local fashion designers.
Hit the “Snow” Fashion Flea Market all day Saturday at the Andenken Gallery for all your non-conformist fashion needs. The event brings together some of Denver’s hippest underground designers for one huge trunk show, along with a fashion show, DJ’s, food, drinks, and even an after party to keep the momentum going after a long day of shopping til you drop.
Here’s a sampling: Lauryn Esther makes chunky, sparkly, brightly colored jewelry using semiprecious stones, Dezi Bags are darling, handmade bags that are almost one of a kind (Dezi makes only four of each style), and Cult 23 Apparel offers gorgeous hand-printed, environmentally-friendly tees for women and men.
It’s only $5 for entry, and the donation will actually go to the Denver Rescue Mission to help support the many programs they offer to individuals and families in need.
