LA has the Pussycat Dolls burlesque troupe, and now Denver has its own version, the brand new Dollhouse Revue.
Granted, we probably won’t see Gwen Stefani or Carmen Elektra on stage, but still, these Dolls have set the celebrity factor pretty high — each of the nine members of the troupe are former Broncos cheerleaders.
Burlesque has become more and more mainstream, and audiences in Denver love it. Big name touring pin-up princesses like Dita Von Teese and Catherine D’Lish sell out shows whenever they come through town, and local acts like Burlesque As It Was and Oracle Dance have been putting the “tease” in striptease for years now.
But the Dollhouse dolls plan to add a new dimension with a very cabaret-oriented show– they’ll have more singing and dancing, and less emphasis on the peepshow aspect, according to their manager. (Yes, they already have a manager, and a pretty snappy website too; these gals are serious!)
We’ll see Dollhouse Revue’s take on contemporary burlesque on the first Thursday of the month at Lotus nightclub; so check out the very first performance week.
