The day after Thanksgiving is traditionally called “Black Friday,” as it’s thought to be the day many retail businesses first turn a profit, and thus move from the red into the black. I wonder if it has more to do with the damage all that shopping does to our bank accounts? Whatever the reason, the Loews Denver Hotel is offering a special “Black Friday” package for you shop-til-you-droppers. Thursday night, they’ll offer a “Turkey Raid Buffet” from 9 – 10 p.m. Full from a second round of tryptophan, they’ll send you off to bed for a good night’s rest for the 6 a.m. shuttle over to Cherry Creek, where the “Early Bird Gets the Deal” sales begin at 7 a.m. Ouch. I don’t know about you, but no one is getting me out of bed that early to go fight off the crowds at the mall. But that’s me. Loews hotel guests will return at the end of long shopping day for free gift wrapping, foot massages, “shopaholic” cocktails and tapas in the lounge. Package pricing starts at $83 per person — call 800-345-9172 or for details.
