If only the timing were just a wee bit off. I’m still on the booze wagon as I wait for baby, but any wino worth his or her sip-and-spit should be heading by Sketch in Cherry Creek this week. As part of the restaurant’s one-year anniversary celebration, they’ll be hosting free wine tastings nightly, starting tonight.
Each night they’ll also offer free nibbles to sample from the dinner menu, and special menu items created for pairing with each night’s selected wine. I’m planning to swing by for the VIP bash on Friday (hey, I can still eat even if my wine habit is on hold), but here is what I’ll be missing out on the rest of the week:
Monday: Tarrica Petite Sirah, Paso Robles, CA
Tuesday: Lealtanza Crianza, Rioja, Spain
Wednesday: Sicilio, Rube, Etna Rosso, Sicily
Thursday: Casa Barranca Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Santa Rita Hills, California
Friday: Tolosa “No Oak” Chardonnay, Edna Valley, California and Tolosa Pinot Noir, Central Coast, California
Saturday, February 10: Maysara “Jamshead” Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Oregon, and Airlie Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon
I suppose I can always do my own sip-and-spit sampling, but I’ve never entirely mastered the art of not drinking wine. And with the end of my booze hiatus coming to a close soon enough, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. A nice, light pinot, perhaps. In the meantime, I’ll have to take your word for this week’s tastings, so have an extra sip for me.
