There’s not a country music superstar who hasn’t played the legendary Grizzly Rose off I-25—think Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Toby Keith—but honky-tonk isn’t the only reason the venue has a devoted nightlife crowd. For almost 20 years, patrons have been lining up for a rollicking ride on the Rose’s ornery mechanical bull. The current beast—the watering hole’s sixth—requires constant TLC to bolster his stamina for the hordes of rowdy, Coors-slugging riders. He’s especially popular when the Rose hosts rock shows, like Quiet Riot, Uncle Kracker, and Cinderella, because for these fans, he’s just that much more of a novelty. So even if Stetsons aren’t your thing, fork over a fiver for your turn at the rodeo—it’s only eight seconds to glory.
