The Denver Outlaws professional lacrosse team languishes in the shadows of the other major sports teams in Denver, but props are in order for the squad, which has a league-leading eight players who will appear in the league’s all-star game on July 16, writes The Denver Post. But the game won’t be the typical east-west showdown of the past two years. Instead, it’s “Old School vs. Young Guns,” with four of the Outlaws playing for Old School and four playing as Young Guns.
Lacrosse Magazine Online notes that a group of Major League Lacrosse players, coaches, and staff will be hanging out in Skyline Park downtown from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 15 to give ad hoc lessons to fans and participate in scoring games. Several MLL all-stars will play in a long-drive competition at Green Valley Ranch Country Club later that day, with fans being able to tee off against an MLL all-star for $50 (which also buys two tickets to the game, with proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club).
The Outlaws happen to be leading the league right now with a 5-1 record, one game ahead of the Toronto Nationals. Maybe they deserve a little more of the spotlight?
