Almost a week after CBS4 broke the story that Denver police chief Gerry Whitman had more than 100 hours of vacation and sick time reinstated because he argued that his 2007 hospitalization for heart problems was work related, the city’s top cop still has yet to comment on the controversy. My guess is that if he did, he’d probably react in much the same way he did in our 2005 profile, where Whitman dismissed his critics as “whiny mopes.”
