Where: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City
What: On Saturday, the Colorado Rapids came this|close to clinching a playoff spot in a 3-2 win against Vancouver. Recently signed, Panamanian phenom Gabriel Torres scored two goals that night, including this penalty kick shot. You can hear the crowd clapping as Torres gears up for the kick, followed by the announcer screaming “GOOOOAAAAAL” and the ubiquitous canon boom. Torres’ commanding performance came less than a week after his home team was knocked from the World Cup qualifiers in a 3-2 loss to the United States. Nonetheless, he hopped on a plane and was back to play in our thin air a few days later.
Stay Tuned: The Rapids’ last regular season game is on Sunday against Vancouver.
