Birds of Winter, November 16-22
Your kiddos will learn to hoot, caw, and quack in this fun bird-watching workshop. First, they’ll be introduced to life-size cut-outs of different species of feathered friends. Then, after listening to some bird calls, they’ll craft their own bird feeders from pinecones, milk cartons, and cheerios strung on pipe cleaners. Day of Darks, November 19
Dark beers take the stage at this boozy charity celebration. Nearly 30 breweries—including Left Hand Brewing Company, Dry Dock Brewing Company, Fiction Beer Company, and Ratio Beerworks—converge to showcase their best dark beers alongside unlimited dark chocolates and other sweet treats. In addition to the limitless tastings and complimentary bittersweet desserts, ticket proceeds from the evening benefit men’s health charities on the national level (the Movember Foundation) as well as the local level (Colorado Cancer Research Foundation and CU Cancer Center). Ski-film pioneer Warren Miller has once again produced his particular brand of powder-worship adventure-action. This film will have you traversing the globe (and maybe making a ski season travel wishlist) with extreme skiers Ingrid Backstrom and Wendy Fisher and touring Greenland on a dog sled with Rob Kingwell and Seth Wescott. An Evening with Garrison Keillor, November 18
At this one-night event, attendees get an intimate portrait of the man behind the slow-rolling and husky voice of Minnesota Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion. Garrison Keillor, a humorist, storyteller, and voice actor, is best known for bringing to life the comedic stories of the fictional Minnesota town, Lake Wobegon.
