Electric Bike Expo, June 17 to June 19
Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a daily commuter, hopping on one of these alternative two-wheelers means you don’t need to be a pro to keep up with the peloton. With a selection of more than 100 different electric-assist bicycles by Trek, Focus, Gazelle, and more, you’re sure to find the perfect set of wheels (or at least indulge in a free test ride). Register now for a chance to win the raffle and take home a brand new hybrid electric machine from Tempo Bicycles or Easy Motion USA. Fri 3 p.m., Colorado Mills Mall, 14500 W. Colfax Ave., Golden, 702-688-5573. Free.
Arabian Horse Day, June 18
The Kentucky Derby might be over, but you and your whole family still have a chance to enjoy a day at the racetrack. Get to know a entire team of sleek Arabian racehorses, trainers, and jockeys during a behind-the-scenes tour, then fuel up with a special Father’s Day lunch. While the kiddos kick back in the arts and crafts area decorating their own Arabian Native Costume coloring sheet and making popsicle-stick ponies, you can catch the animals in action during a 1 p.m. race. Sat 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Arapahoe Park, 26000 E. Quincy Ave., Aurora, 303-696-4500. $7.50-$15.
Father’s Day With the Joneses, June 19
It’s easy to get Dad out of the house when you promise him barbecue—and it’s even easier if his meal comes with a screening of Indiana Jones. The menu at this feast-and-flick features a choice of a burger, cheeseburger, green chili cheeseburger, or pulled pork from Steuben’s in addition to a beverage ticket for the bar. You and your pops might not be a father-son crime-fighting duo like Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, but you can still have a stellar Sunday adventure together. Sun 12:30 p.m. Sie FilmCenter, 2510 E. Colfax Ave., 720-381-0813. Ticket prices vary.
Prime Rib Derby, June 19
Wax nostalgic (and get competitive) at this old-school event, where beer lovers face off against one another in a pinewood boxcar race—no previous Cub Scout membership required. Competitors need only purchase a pinewood boxcar kit to obtain entry into the race and get a free beverage on the big day. After the victors are crowned, guests can settle in for a prime rib dinner, a cold Station 26 Brewing Co. beer, and a build-your-own baked potato bar. But diners beware: RSVP ahead of time to be sure you have a spot at the table. Sun 3-8 p.m. Station 26 Brewing Co., 7045 E. 48th Ave., 303-333-1825. $20-$30.
