sotomayor-soniaColorado Republicans are ready to reject President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. Familiar conservatives, including former state Senator John Andrews, Jon Caldara of the Independence Institute, and former GOP congressional candidate Jeff Crank are among those lined up to bring down Sotomayor, the first ever Latino nominee to the country’s highest court.

On the other side of the political divide, Senator Michael Bennet says he approves of Sotomayor, getting ahead of more conditional support from fellow Democratic Senator Mark Udall, writes The Denver Post. In other Bennet headlines, the former Denver Public Schools czar recently made some concessions to this year’s Colorado College graduates–in line with other baby-boomer-oriented, political grad speeches–apologizing, “because our generation has not been faithful enough to our grandparents’ example” (via the Wall Street Journal).

Meanwhile, another prominent state political figure, Dick Wadhams, isn’t distracted by the Sotomayor game, but the Colorado Independent speculates that the state Republican chairman could finally get a shot at leading a presidential campaign if South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune makes a run for the White House. Wadhams, profiled last fall by 5280, served Thune during his victory over Tom Daschle in 2004.

Among potential Democratic challengers for Colorado governor, Hizzoner John Hickenlooper says he won’t challenge Bill Ritter in a primary, according to The Denver Post.
