Vail’s Lindsey Vonn set an American record with her 19th women’s World Cup victory yesterday in the super-G ski event in Tarvisio, Italy. “This is something I’ve been working my whole life for,” 24-year-old Vonn told the Rocky Mountain News, after eclipsing Tamara McKinney’s record.
Vonn wore a splint on her right hand after she cut her thumb last week on a champagne bottle while celebrating a sweep of earlier races.
