LoDo is home to many things: top-tier restaurants, Coors Field, and some of the most desirable office space in Denver. Now you can put “farmers’ market” on that list too—an addition that signals LoDo’s transition from a work/play neighborhood to one in which people actually live. The Union Station Farmers’ Market officially debuted in June; crates of baby carrots and fingerling potatoes will be on display every Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) through October. Unlike exhibitors at other Denver markets, the 40 or so vendors here can’t just buy produce wholesale from area farms and resell it—they have to have grown it themselves. That means when you buy your fruits and vegetables, the friendly face behind the stand can give you the story on just how that summer squash came to be. We’ll leave it to you to ask for a recipe.
