Last Wednesday marked the first day of spring. Which, of course, meant that Denver got a massive snowstorm over the weekend. But March—which is typically our state’s snowiest month—is almost over, so resorts are preparing for the end of ski season and gearing up for warm-weather activities. Catch one of these events to ride the season out right.
—The Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series ends this weekend with two don’t-miss events. Friday night, MarchFourth Marching Band will perform in downtown Aspen; then Saturday Grouplove takes the stage to close out this popular (free) winter series. March 29—20, downtown Aspen
—Sunsation at Copper closes its season with a weekend of live music and competitions. Test your skills on the Red Bull SlopeSoakers (rails on floating inner tubes) for a twist on the traditional pond skim. Or, don your craziest costume in the CopperMan Winter Race, where you’ll navigate obstacles like a Hot Chocolate Pit and the Human Luge. First prize is a 2013-14 season pass to the resort. April 13-14, Copper Mountain
—On April 6, Steamboat will host a 50th Anniversary Fashion Show. Dig out the pre-1990’s ski wear, tease your hair, and strut your stuff down the runway to celebrate Steamboat’s golden anniversary. Participation is free, but you must provide a photo of your outfit with the registration form (they’re serious about the vintage thing). Best outfit wins a pair of Steamboat 50th anniversary skis. April 6, Gondola Square, Steamboat
For the kids: It wouldn’t be spring without a visit from the Easter Bunny, and he’ll be making appearances at several mountain towns. Catch him March 31 at Arapahoe Basin, Durango, Eldora, Winter Park, Wolf Creek, Steamboat, and Granby Ranch.
