Bill Husted and Patty Calhoun both beat me to the punch on blogging last night’s “Tonight Show” segment on Denver’s preparations for hosting the 2008 Democratic National Convention. In my defense, I was waiting for NBC to post a videoclip of the segment, which I could share with you. No such luck.
Rather than re-hashing it here, I’ll leave you to read Bill and Patty’s summaries. Still, I have to say I was surprised that neither mentioned what was clearly the segment’s most newsworthy moment. I speak, of course, of the declaration by the Honorable John Wright Hickenlooper, mayor of the City and County of Denver, that — and I quote:
“We’re confident we’ll get it all laid.”
Forget “two chickens in every pot.” If that isn’t the greatest campaign slogan of all time, I don’t know what is.
