Timbuk2, the 25-year-old company known for its tough, customizable messenger bags, will plant its third U.S. brick-and-mortar store on the west end of Larimer Square this Saturday (the others are in San Francisco and Seattle). The long, narrow shop is filled with bags: backpacks, briefcases, camera bags, diaper bags, and Timbuk2’s champion, the messenger bag.

In a city known for its fanatical cycling culture, it makes sense that Timbuk2 would land here. There are high-end and weather-resistant bike commuting bags—including women’s specific options. The bags may not be made in Colorado, but each one is hand-made in San Francisco. Finding a bag all your own isn’t much of a task when out of the 70,000 custom bags made in 2013, few combinations were duplicated exactly. Instead of having to pick out the perfect three fabric colors and textures to create your “you” bag on the website, you can head into the Denver store to match swatches and run your fingers over the specialty fabric options. Drop your choices on the in-house computer and, boom, your bag will be sewn together and shipped to you in about five business days.
