Previously reserved exclusively for New York City clientele like Barbra Streisand, Madonna, and Naomi Campbell, the Energy Lift Tourmaline facial treatment arrived in Denver in July at Cherry Creek North’s Susie Organic Spa, the first spa outside the Big Apple to offer it. The Energy Lift Therapy service—$150 for a one-hour session—feels like a hot-stone massage on the back and face. The stones, in this case, are tourmaline gemstones, a semiprecious mineral that emits negative ions and far-infrared rays (essentially heat). Negative ions—commonly found in natural settings—increase the flow of oxygen to the brain, leaving spa clients with sharper minds, boosted immune systems, and generally happier outlooks. Yeah, it may sound a little out there, but if it’s good enough for Babs and Madge, it just might be good enough for us.
