Breckenridge played host to some of the winter-action-sports world’s best athletes last week, culminating in two days of competitions over the weekend. Alli Sports’ Nike 6.0 Open, the first of three stops along the Winter Dew Tour, featured skiers and snowboarders competing in halfpipe and slopestyle events. Lake Tahoe’s Jamie Anderson and Norway’s Torstein Horgmo won snowboarding slopestyle, while Canada’s Alexis Godbout and Chicago’s Ashley Battersby took the top spots in skiing slopestyle.

In the halfpipe, former Dancing With the Stars competitor Louie Vito rode his board to victory, along with Barcelona’s Queralt Castellet. The winning skiers in the halfpipe were Maine’s Simon Dumont and Canada’s Dania Assaly (full results available via Alli Sports). Colorado was represented well in the snowboard halfpipe competition by Steamboat Springs’ Matt Ladley (second place) and J.J. Thomas, who splits his time between Golden and Breckenridge—and was the subject of a 5280 print article I wrote in November.

All the riders battled driving snows during the event finals Saturday and Sunday, as Breckenridge was pounded with nearly three feet of the white stuff over the last week, 20 inches of which fell in the last two days (via Breckenridge.com). But Breck isn’t an exception. Vail, Aspen, Crested Butte, and Telluride could see anywhere between three and eight feet by Thursday, reports the Vail Daily. Steamboat enjoyed more than a foot of fresh powder over the weekend and could see three to six more feet through the week, according to Steamboat Today. The snowfall is expected to continue through Christmas across most of Colorado’s high country, notes The Denver Post.
