Denver’s NBA and NHL teams are more frustrating than exciting to watch right now, making it easy to turn our collective gaze toward the Colorado Rockies. After many years of prepping for the season in Tucson, the Rox have moved into a brand-new spring training facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, called the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, notes the Denver Post. Star shortstop and new member of the $100 million club Troy Tulowitzki is also on the move—into a new Denver home now that he’s committed his next 10 years to playing at Coors Field. He tells the Post he considers himself a Rocky for life and is convinced the team was dedicated to winning.

Tulo’s doing his part by inviting the Rockies’ minor-leaguers to train with him during the off-season, hoping the time and tutelage of the young guns will pay dividends in the future. Closer Huston Street could go a long way in helping the Rockies improve their road record if he can harken the 2009 version of himself that converted 35 of 37 save opportunities. The Post’s Jim Armstrong says the Rockies would like to give Street time to bounce back after an injury-riddled 2010, but the team has its eyes on relief pitcher Matt Belisle as the next closer.
