Recent sales-tax figures for 2009 show that Denverites like to drink during a recession. I believe some of my recent receipts have helped contribute to those numbers, though I have been trying to spend my booze funds more concisely.
One place that has helped me stay affordably stocked is Reserve List, a boutique shop that has made an effort to keep a reasonable price point on their shelves. (Think $8 to $25, though there are more expensive bottles.)
Bonus: If you’re looking for recommendations, stop by the Reserve List’s free wine tastings on Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 2-7 p.m.
Here are a few staff favorites for $15 or under:
Red: Angeline Pinot Noir ($15) and Castle Rock Willamette Valley Pinot Noir ($14)
Rosé: Chateau Haut Rian Rose ($12)
White: Marqués de Cáceres White Rioja ($10)
