Bill Gates stayed perched at the top of Forbes’ annual list of the 400 richest people in America, and several Coloradans made the list, but only three, including a part-time resident, cleared the top 100.

Denver entertainment and communications mogul Phil Anschutz, who is worth $7 billion, was number 34 on the list. He has an interest in nine sports teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, and underwrites tours for musicians such as the Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber. Denver’s Charlie Ergen, the founder of EchoStar who is worth $5.2. billion, is number 51, and, as the Denver Business Journal notes, Wal-Mart heiress Ann Walton Kroenke, a Denver part-timer listed as a Missouri resident worth $3.2 billion, is number 98.

Her husband, Stan Kroenke, who owns the Pepsi Center, is associated with the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, and owns a stake in England’s Arsenal soccer team, among other teams, came in at a mere $2.7 billion—130 on the list. Rounding out the list is number 110, Parker’s DirecTV’s John Malone; number 136, James Leprino, whose food company supplies cheese to the likes of Pizza Hut and Hot Pockets; number 380, Fort Collins’ Pat Stryker of the Bohemian Foundation; and number 332, Gary Magness, who has built on his inheritance from his dad, Bob Magness, the founder of cable TV’s TCI.
