For years, Boulder Olympian Taylor Phinney has impressed the athletic world with his incredible performances on the track. The 20-year-old made his pro-road debut over the weekend during the Tour of Oman, and even though he didn’t do so well, he’s still “stoked” about the experience. “Thanks for a great race Oman! Until next time,” Phinney posted to his Twitter feed after finishing in 112th place. The Boulder High School graduate clocked 31:14 behind overall winner Robert Gesink, notes Boulder’s Daily Camera.
Regardless, Phinney’s future looks bright. Canadian rider Dominique Rollin points to his exceptional power during one of the stage’s steep climbs and says he sacrificed his chances at success in order to help teammates finish before him, a trait that should keep him on good teams for years to come, writes Velo Nation.
