Congressman Tom Tancredo continued on his immigrant bashing mission in Grand Junction Monday. His message: farm workers in the U.S. illegally from Mexico must be deported because illegal immigrants might be terrorists:

U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo, (R) Colorado, in Grand Junction Monday, said illegal farm workers…[place] a huge burden on the courts and social services, but that a bigger problem is the 100,000 Non–Mexican nationals arriving in the U.S. illegally, some of whom could be terrorists.

Of the more than 400 persons prosecuted for terror-related activities nationally, there have been 39 convictions, mostly for immigration typoe offenses like visa violations.

.. the DOJ [Department of Justice] has gone on the record saying the [Patriot Act] has, in fact, worked as it was intended, resulting in nearly 400 charged levies against terrorists on U.S. soil. Nearly half of those have already resulted in convictions.

On closer examination, [Executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union in New Mexico, Peter] Simonson says, only 39 of those convictions have actually been related to terrorism. The vast majority of the convictions have been for immigration-related violations, including passport and visa violations, and making false statements to immigration officials.

None have been from Colorado.
