The after-lunch slump on a ski mountain can spell doom for any family trying to wring out every slope-side minute from their pricey ski passes. But thanks to Beaver Creek’s Candy Cabin—new to the resort this year—skiers and riders of all ages can enjoy an afternoon sugar burst to give them the energy to make it to last chair. Located at the top of the Strawberry Park Express Lift (Chair 12) and the Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express Lift (from the Bachelor Gulch side), the 400-square-foot Candy Cabin is a warmed, sweet treat haven literally filled with barrels of candy, including gummy bears, taffy, hard candies, and more, all priced at $3.75 per quarter pound.

Here’s the catch: Each visitor, including those younger than 12, need a valid lift ticket to access the Candy Cabin. If you and your family don’t feel like skiing or snowboarding, we recommend snagging tickets to the Nordic Sports Center at McCoy Park, where you can enjoy 32-plus kilometers of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. At $34 for adults and $21 for those under 12 and over 65, everyone in the clan can trounce around the mountain to build up an appetite for a mid-afternoon treat. If you’d like to linger outside the cabin, which is built from recycled beetle kill wood, you can also purchase vintage, cane sugar Pepsi products inside to enjoy on the adjacent deck until the lift closes down at three.

Beaver Creek’s Candy Cabin is open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
