Since launching in March, the Dirty Cookie has satisfied many late-night cravings by delivering just-baked, still-warm cookies (plus milk and ice cream) until 3 a.m. With flavors including peanut butter chocolate, red velvet, and a spectacular gingerdoodle (pictured), the company has been wildly successful—so much so that co-owners Jennifer Coolbrith and Chris Newell want to provide your midnight fix midday. On Saturday, May 18, the Dirty Cookie will open its first retail location on Platte Street. Nighttime delivery will still be available, and the shop’s doors will also stay open until the wee hours of the night.
Originally from Austin, Texas, Coolbrith and her boyfriend Newell relocated to Denver last December and January. Upon arriving, the two were surprised by the city’s lack of late-night, delivery-friendly businesses. They decided to stir up the niche. On the Dirty Cookie’s second night open orders skyrocketed. The unexpectedly high demand caused the duo to halt orders at 8:54 p.m.—less than an hour after opening. “We were annihilated on our second night,” Coolbrith says. “Chris met someone who went to DU and he posted us on Facebook. We went viral.”
The Dirty Cookie is set to join forces with Ziggy’s Frozen Yogurt and share the yogurt shop’s retail space on Platte Street. Coolbrith plans to add a new cookie to the menu monthly—rocky road, vegan, and gluten-free flavors are in the works. “Bread and butter options like chocolate chip appeal to everyone,” Coolbrith explains. “But I also want weird flavors. Everyone gets excited about something different.”
