Colorado has no shortage of great stages or musical performances. But if you are looking for something a bit more intimate than Red Rocks or Fiddler’s Green, head up to the Gold Hill Inn. Perched above Left Hand Canyon, just 10 miles northeast of Boulder, the restaurant and concert hall brings in an eclectic mix of bluegrass, jazz, and folk acts.
For the 52nd year in a row (yes, you read that correctly), the inn will open its front bar room for a free acoustic Sunday evening concert series and additional Friday and Sunday night shows. This year’s lineup includes the “hoedown meets New York jazz club” sound of Gypsy Moon and the honky-tonk charm of the Sweetback Sisters. Plus, for the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend, the inn will throw multi-band outdoor concerts with a barbeque.
Toe-tapping music not your style? Wait to visit in August when the murder mystery nights kick off again. Regardless, stop in for the prix-fixe multi-course dinner. The food is tasty, but the old-time setting is transportive (if it is on the menu, try the stuffed trout).
When: Friday and Sunday nights (check calendar for exact times)
Price: Covers prices range from free to $15, for special concerts.
