When Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Dolan was spotted earlier this month driving drunk on a highway in his cruiser, he was promptly arrested, and officials promised to get to the bottom of what happened. After a court hearing yesterday for Dolan, who faces charges of driving under the influence and carrying a weapon while drunk, the picture now seems a bit more clear. The 48-year-old veteran trooper was working on the State Patrol fatalities unit, exposing him, at times, to some grisly scenes (via 7News). As a result, Dolan’s lawyer says he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, a condition that these days is more often associated with soldiers returning from war and struggling with stress and issues such as substance abuse. Dolan, who didn’t appear in court, is being treated at a mental-health and substance-abuse facility.
