Trooper David Dolan has probably encountered a few drunks in his 21 years with the Colorado State Patrol. But it was a stunner in March when he was pulled over in his cruiser for drunken driving and was arrested by his colleagues. Dolan, 48, is on leave and free on $1,000 bail. He was in court Monday in Castle Rock and though he said nothing during a hearing, according to CBS4, a possible defense strategy is emerging. Dolan’s lawyer, Michael Moran, requested and received a 30-day postponement of proceedings because Dolan, he says, is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, arising from his work with a patrol unit that responds to fatalities. Dolan is being treated at a mental health and substance abuse facility.
