What to Expect

Traveling with a group of 5280 readers is an enriching, enjoyable, and safe way to experience new cultures, people, and places.Your entire trip will be guided, planned, and arranged for your utmost enjoyment. Many activities are things you can only do because you are traveling with 5280. There is some free time built in for you to explore on your own. You can also choose not to attend an activity if you prefer something different. Please let your tour director know if you are not coming on a scheduled day.

Many meals are included. When you have meals on your own, suggestions will be provided.

5280 trips are generally filled with dynamic and friendly people. One of the best parts of traveling with us is that you will meet new people, many of whom you will already have much in common with since most travelers read the magazine. Guests often develop friendships that last long after the tour is finished.

Physical Requirements
Our tours are physically active but not meant to be strenuous.

Please be aware that you will be on your feet, walking and standing, for much of the day, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions and terrains. There will also be extended time on the motor coach when we travel from place to place. Most days are moderately paced with approximately two to three total miles of walking, possibly including some hills and stairs.

We regret that we’re unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. The responsibility of the tour director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the group as a whole enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

FAQ

What is included in the price of these tours?
All tours include roundtrip air from DEN, hotel or cruise accommodations, fully guided by professional tour director and step-on guides, transfers to/from hotel/ship, meals per itinerary, included sightseeing per itinerary and of course plenty of free time as well.

What’s not included in the price of these tours?
Tips & gratuities for your guide and driver, any meals not included, insurance (available for purchase) and any additional sightseeing/admissions not included in the itinerary.

When should I sign up?
Once you realize you want to go on a certain tour, please register as soon as possible. These trips do sell out on a very regular basis. Final payments on most tours are due 90 days prior to departure, but it’s very important to register well before that if possible. NOTE: European river cruises sell out 6-9 months prior to departure on a regular basis. Please register as early as possible on river cruises.

What is a typical day on tour?
Travel can be unpredictable, but you’ll be well taken care of on tour.  Morning included breakfast is usually followed by a sightseeing tour and leisure time for lunch on your own. The afternoons typically include more included sightseeing and free time. Your guide will provide insight, guidance, assistance and humor along the way.  Get to know your fellow travelers, some from close to home and also from across the country. You’ll form bonds with other travelers, enjoy meals on your own and in group settings and find adventures on your own along the way. A little bit guided touring and a little bit leisure time and a whole lot of fun!

What is a typical evening on tour?
Sometimes you’ll enjoy an included group dinner (unless cruising and then they are included every night!) and sometimes you’ll be on your own. The tour director and hotel staff can help you find your perfect dinner or maybe you’ll track the ideal spot down online. And there’s always time for a few drinks before or after dinner!

I’ll have lots of questions before I go, how are they answered?
Great question! About two weeks prior to departure, you’ll receive a pre-trip travel wallet with all the information you’ll need. From info about currency, packing advice, optional tour information, luggage tags and more, you’ll have lots of info prior to your tour. And you can always get info prior to the tour by calling our travel partner, Premier World Discovery.

I have a friend that needs to fly from a different airport or I would like to fly out a few days early or come back a few days later, is that ok?
Of course! You tell us where you or your friends/family are flying from and we will book them out of their preferred gateway. And air deviations are no problem if you want to go early or stay later.
