After a long day of skiing, snowshoeing, or (sigh) shoveling, hunker down beside one of Colorado’s grandest fireplaces.
Rhein Haus | 1415 Market St #1706, Denver
The four bocce ball courts and bigger-than-your-face pretzels get a lot of attention at this LoDo restaurant, but nothing entices us (or our frozen fingers) more than the second floor’s mahogany fireplace. The Belgian structure, acquired from an antique dealer, pairs well with a Kölsch—and one of those aforementioned gluten bombs.

Heck’s Tavern | 3530 County Rd 83, Tabernash
Constructed out of moss rock from a nearby rockslide, the massive hexagonal hearth in Devil’s Thumb Ranch’s on-site tavern puts out face-melting heat to those sitting near the 48-foot-tall fireplace. Opt for a spot a little farther away and you won’t miss out on any warmth, thanks to geothermal sources that naturally heat the spruce wood floor.
The View Bar & Grill | 457 Mountain Village Blvd, Telluride
Pick your post-shredding view at the Mountain Lodge Telluride: the wide-open vista of San Sophia Ridge through the lounge’s 30-foot windows or flames dancing inside the log-cabin-esque dining hall’s steel fireplace. Better yet, sit facing the mirror on the mantle for both perspectives.
The Hotel Bar | 1 Lake Ave, Colorado Springs
You can take your pick of fireplaces at the Broadmoor, where staffers at the 101-year-old icon of luxe lodging light eight nightly for the public to enjoy. We’re partial to snuggling up beside the stone version on the Hotel Bar’s patio, though, for sunset views of Cheyenne Lake.
Inga’s Alpine Tavern | 5151 Leetsdale Drive, Denver
This Washington Virginia Vale bar feels like a hug from your grandma—if your grandma was knocking one back in her Swedish cabin post–ski day. The tangerine hue of the vintage fireplace caps off the late ’60s vibe—as does the James Bond-inspired Pussy Galore cocktail, a Dry Dock Brewing Co. Apricot Blonde with peach whiskey.
