Not content with banning smoking in public buildings, bars and restaurants, the Colorado legislature is going to consider a bill to ban smoking in casinos.
I am no fan of the no-smoking law, but I never saw the wisdom of excluding casinos in the first place. I was more concerned about banning smoking in mom & pop bars.
Where does this no-smoking obsession end? With bans on smoking in cars, apartments, backyards and public streets? Probably. The anti-smoking lobby is a powerful one.
Once there is no place left to smoke, will the next move be to ban the sale of cigarettes? That seems to be the direction in which we are headed. Is the cigarette manufacturer’s lobby powerful enough to stop it? It may take a few years, but I don’t rule it out of the question.
