Speaker of the Colorado House, Andrew Romanoff, plans to make a surprise announcement tomorrow between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., at the Washington Park Boathouse Pavilion (between Franklin and Downing, near Exposition). What is he going to announce? He’s not saying, but he ruled out the following in an e-mail he sent out earlier today.
First, I am not announcing my candidacy for governor (I strongly support Bill Ritter). Nor am I announcing my engagement (I would have called you, Mom). Nor am I announcing the engagement of Marc Holtzman and Bob Beauprez (their partnership is anything but domesticated).

What’s the surprise? I don’t have a clue, but I did note the Wall Street Journal reported last week:
Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, in Washington raising funds to protect unaccustomed Democratic majority, says “this is not your father’s Republican Party or your mother’s Democratic Party.”…
Speaker Romanoff will be providing refreshments and promises other elected officials, most likely to include Mayor Hickenlooper, will be on hand for his announcement.
