The Colorado Rockies came back to earth last night, losing big to the Tampa Bay Rays 12-4 at Coors Field. The Rockies were in pursuit of their 12th straight win and a chance to get back to .500, but the Rays weren’t having it. The defending American League champions belted five home runs against the Rockies and shelled pitcher Jorge De La Rosa for seven earned runs, notes The Denver Post.
Right fielder Brad Hawpe kept up his superb play with two hits (currently hitting .342), and second baseman Clint Barmes also had two hits, but the rest of the team struggled a bit, writes Purple Row, whose always-sober analysis still predicts the Rockies (32-33) will climb to .500 and win the three-game series against the Rays. They’ll get their first chance to prove the Row right tonight at 6:40 p.m. (Fox Sports Net).
