Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Bill Ritter has announced his running mate: Barbara O’Brien, president of the Colorado Children’s Campaign.

Ms. O’Brien has worked for the children’s advocacy campaign group for 15 years. Previously, she n served as head speechwriter and deputy policy director for former Gov. Richard Lamm.

The Rocky Mountain News notes:

Ritter is opposed to abortion, while O’Brien is pro-abortion rights . Her selection is seen as a signal by Ritter to abortion rights advocates within the party, some of whom have been troubled by his position.
