Olaf, the 22 year old polar bear at the Denver Zoo, was euthanized Saturday after it was determined he was suffering from liver cancer. Olaf came to the Denver Zoo from Omaha when he was 1 1/2 years old.
He was named after Saint Olaf, the Patron Saint of Norway. During his time at the zoo, Olaf fathered the famous polar bears Klondike and Snow and Ulaq and Berit.
