A new Denver Post poll has Democrat Bill Ritter with a 7-point lead over his Republican opponent Bob Beauprez.
With 25 percent of those polled saying they have not yet decided who to vote for, it doesn’t mean Ritter can rest easy.
One potential problem for Beauprez is that while his favorability rating in the poll is 2 points higher than Ritter’s, his unfavorable rating is at 22 percent compared with Ritter’s 8 percent.
But, “Ritter’s unfavorable rating has gone up since [February], from 3 percent to 8 percent.
Ritter seems to be doing better with women:
The polls also showed Ritter netting 46 percent of the female vote, even though he was criticized early in the race for opposing abortion. He says his agenda does not include trying to change abortion laws. Beauprez trails Ritter by 15 percentage points with women and has a razor-thin lead with men.
The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Shorter version: The Governor’s race is still wide open and not yet on everyone’s radar screen.
