The Local newsletter is your free, daily guide to life in Colorado. For locals, by locals.
Around some Thanksgiving tables, the most contentious topic isn’t politics, it’s pie. Your aunt is an apple enthusiast, your mother demands pecan, and your kids only want pumpkin.
So to please everyone’s palate, you might find yourself procuring quite a few pies for your picky family. Let the professionals do the baking this year by ordering your dessert spread from a local pastry shop, restaurant, or pop-up. Whether you opt for ready-to-eat or take-and-bake pies, you’ll need to act fast because ordering deadlines are quickly approaching. Here are some of our favorite local spots around the Denver metro area to grab a pie (or three) in time for Turkey Day.

Anne’s Pie Cafe
- Order by: ASAP until slots fill
- Address: 5640 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge
- Phone: 720-434-6925
Although this cozy westside cafe debuted its brick-and-mortar location this year, its been slinging sweet and savory pies from a vintage Yellowstone camper since 2020. For a traditional dessert, opt for one of Anne’s holiday flavors, which include pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate-pecan. But the shop also bakes up a variety of fruit and cream pies (in minis, too), plus chicken or green-chile pot pies. Orders are filling up quickly, so the latest pickup date is now two days before Turkey Day. Call or order online.

- Address: 2825 Wilderness Place, Suite 800, Boulder
- Phone: 303-417-9338
Your brain may be on dessert, but pastry chef Shamane Simons reminds us not to skip out on the savory. Instead of toiling over a turkey, order a turkey, chicken, or veggie pot pie from Shamane’s Bakery. Or, for a uniquely Colorado take, set your table with flaky handheld pasties stuffed with Centennial State bison. For added variety, pick up Shamane’s mini pie sample box, which comes with apple, pecan, cherry, and sweet potato chocolate ginger. Schedule a pickup for November 24, 25, or 26.

The Slice package includes three 6-inch pies (pumpkin, pecan, and sour cream apple), homemade caramel sauce, and banana bread. The Whole Pie option includes all of the above, plus a savory fall veggie quiche, triple berry jam, Nutella and strawberry bonbons, and a 2025 limited edition pink Pie Queen tote bag to carry it all home in. Edible Beats runs some of Denver’s tastiest kitchens—Root Down, Linger, El Five, and Vital Root—especially when it comes to dessert. Choose the layered pumpkin and whiskey pecan pie for a two-for-one treat. Gluten-free crusts are also available, as are regular, gluten-free, and vegan dinner rolls. You can even include a donation to Food Bank of the Rockies as part of your online order; just choose your date, pickup location, donation amount, and all the pies your heart desires. This year, he’s hosting a first-come, first-served pop-up at his Italian eatery Luca. Find pumpkin, cinnamon apple, and bourbon pecan pies; cinnamon rolls by the tray (in case you have overnight guests); bottled margaritas, espresso martinis, and old fashioneds for your dinner table; and even coffee and breakfast burritos to go. We suggest getting there early so you’re not left empty-handed.
