British artist Stuart Semple invited everyone to hug-it-out from London to Denver on March 26 at the Potters Field Park in London and Denver’s Performing Arts Complex. The “Hug Huddle”—a performance art piece— is a part of Semple’s vision for a happier, more inclusive world. The Huddle in Denver ran in tandem with the London “Hug Huddle” and is the first work in his Denver exhibition, Happy City: Art for the People, a series of six citywide installments produced by the Denver Theatre District meant to inspire happiness throughout Denver. Semple will transform locations in downtown Denver into large-scale artworks “meant to break down social barriers and encourage intimacy amongst people,” says art director of “Happy City,” Cortney Lane Stell. May 18—June 10 at Black Cube, a Nomadic Art Museum
