Like Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic, former Avs star Peter Forsberg is struggling with injury. Yesterday, Forsberg broke several weeks of silence, providing what The Denver Post deems “mixed messages” regarding his recent foot surgery and prospects for hitting the ice this season.
“The foot didn’t feel as good as (I) hoped,” Forsberg said via the website of his former Swedish team, Modo.

Forsberg doesn’t have a contract with the Avs or any other team at the moment. It is widely reported that the 35-year-old has pinned his hopes of returning to the National Hockey League on the success of the surgery.
